Looking to add a few divas to your Tomodachi Life island? You've come to the right place...

Is it any surprise that my Tomodachi Life island is well-stocked with divas? I sure hope not.

Anyway, I can't imagine I'm the only gay (or otherwise) gamer playing this quirky 3DS life sim who likes his "pop stars," so I thought I'd share QR codes for a few of the ones that currently are traipsing around Rainbow Island. (Yes, that's the rather unimaginative name I came up with for my Tomodachi Life hub. What can I say? It wasn't my most creative moment.)

For starters, here's Bjork:

I can't take credit for her design, by the way, as I came up with it after finding an interesting looking one via Google and tweaking it a bit.

I also can't take credit for the amazing Cher design found below.

An Internet acquaintance, Adrian, came up with the following Grace Jones design, I believe:

I did create the design seen below, though, which is of Japanese pop star Hikaru Utada.

I also made this Madonna design:

Finally, here's a QR code for my own Mii design (yep, I'm a diva, too), should any of you want to add me to your isle.

Are you playing Tomodachi Life, too? If so, please feel free to share the QR code for your Mii in the comments section below.

I'm a bad, bad Hikaru Utada fan

I know this isn't completely game-related, but most westerners know of Japanese singer-songwriter Hikaru Utada because of the tunes she contributed to Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II--"Simple and Clean" (aka "Hikari") and "Sanctuary" (aka "Passion"), respectively--so I also wouldn't say it's not at all game-related.

Anyway, the reason I'm a bad, bad Utada (as she's heretofore been known outside of Japan) fan is that I didn't realize until a few days ago that she released a new single, "Sakura Nagashi," which serves as the theme song for Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, in late November.

Unfortunately, only a snippet of the Naomi Kawase-directed video for "Sakura Nagashi" can be found on Utada's official YouTube channel (and above) at the moment, although the entire song can be downloaded from iTunes. (Also, its officially translated lyrics can be found here.)

Yet another reason to love Hikaru Utada

While perusing Twitter yesterday, I was surprised to come across the following tweet from Japanese singer/songwriter/producer Hikaru Utada:

"I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day :) I spent the whole day playing Furai No Shiren 5 on my Nintendo DSi."

So, not only is Hikki cute, smart and amazing talented (click for proof), but she likes to play roguelikes? Sigh.

Daisy dukes, bikinis on top...

OK, so my main Dragon Quest IX character, Madonna, isn't currently sporting a bikini top and a pair of daisy dukes--à la Katy Perry's hit single, "California Gurls"--but one out of two isn't bad, right?

Actually, I'd take a "dangerous midriff wrap" (below) over a ratty pair of daisy dukes any day, but that's how I roll.

All that said, as awesome as I consider Madonna's girly getup to be, it's nothing compared to her cohort Utada's "malicious maid" costume:

I've just crossed the 60-hour mark in my playthrough of this horribly addictive game, by the way. I'm currently grinding my characters into shape so they can properly take on the boss of Gittingham Palace, King Godwyn.

After that, I'm off to the "Realm of the Mighty" to tackle ... well, whatever awaits me there.

Are any of you still spending time with Dragon Quest IX? If so, how far along are you?

The gayest (Dragon Quest IX) party ever

The only way my Dragon Quest IX party (below) could be any gayer is if it included Babs, Cher, Judy or Lady Gaga.

My diva-licious Dragon Quest IX party (clockwise from the upper-left corner):
Madonna, Utada, Beyonce and Janet.

Actually, I would have included the first three if I had thought of it--as any of them would be a worthwhile replacement for Utada, who I adore but who really isn't a gay icon.

I thought of including Lady Gaga but decided against it because without the ability to give her a big schnoz she'd look just like Madonna--and that ain't right.

Speaking of Utada ...

I thought I'd get this day off to a beautiful start by posting the PV (promotional video) for "Passion," the shimmering Utada track that can be heard in Kingdom Hearts II.

If "Passion" doesn't ring any bells for you, it's probably because the English versions of Kingdom Hearts II included the similar-but-not-exactly-the-same "Sanctuary"--which can be heard here.

By the way, both "Simple and Clean" (the Utada track that appears in the original Kingdom Hearts) and "Sanctuary" are included on Utada's latest album, "This Is The One," which can be ordered here.

I know it's a stretch ...

... to call this a piece of gaming news, but I can't help myself.

Hikaru Utada, the j-pop superstar best known to gamers for the songs she contributed to Kingdom Hearts ("Hikari"/"Simple and Clean") and Kingdom Hearts II ("Passion"/"Sanctuary"), outed her stuffed bear, Kuma-Chang, on Wednesday :)

Utada has posted photos of Kuma-Chang on her blog for years and even wrote a hit song about him ("Boku wa Kuma") in 2006. (You can see the song's video here, if you're so inclined.)

Anyway, during a performance in San Francisco on Tuesday, Utada threw foam baseballs containing images of Kuma-Chang holding up signs saying "Legalize Gay Marriage" into the crowd. The next day, she posted a photo of the autographed balls on her blog.

Along with the photo she wrote:

"Actually, I don't think I've ever really explained it here, but Kuma really is gay (he's a boy but likes men only, no interest in girls...) so these illustrations flowed pretty naturally. Oh, did I just out Kuma?"
