I've got to be honest here: I'm not entirely sure what's going on in the trailer below, which is for an upcoming PS3 game called Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day. I mean, clearly it's some kind of side-scroller, but beyond that I'm a bit stumped.
What I'm not as confused about is how I feel about this awesome-looking title, which supposedly will see the light of day in North America sometime this spring.
Ranko Tsukigime's Longest Day was made by same developers that brought the world Tokyo Jungle, by the way--which probably explains the gigantic Pomeranian that pops up partway through this trailer.
Is it an endless-runner game with neat cutscenes? I can't tell what it is from that trailer, other than a sense that I'm supposed to get a massive nerd hard-on for the names involved. lol
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know what it is, Zaphod. I have to say, though, that if it's "just" an endless runner, my interest in it is going to wane considerably...
ReplyDeleteIf you do get a PS3, I hope you use it more than I've used mine (for games, at least). Having said that, I do have Ni No Kuni waiting for me to collect at my sister's house :P
ReplyDeleteI concur it looks cool - but I'm surprised you don't have a PS3 yet, just because of the number of very JRPG titles for it (any of the Atelier games, or Ni no Kuni, things like that). Unlike Simon - I get a ton of use out of my PS3, even with my shiny new PS4
ReplyDeleteI'm honestly pretty torn about the PS3 at the moment, Simon--in large part because I'm just not sure I'll use it much anymore.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, though? If Sony offers up some great deals late this year and the PS3 games I have my eye on are as cheap as they are now, I may change my mind.
All that said, it's becoming ever more clear to me that I'm going to be a handheld-focused gamer for a while. I just prefer to play games that way at the moment.
That's not to say I won't swing back toward consoles at some point, but for now I'd prefer to play games on portable systems.
If I didn't have such an interest in retro systems and games, Chalgyr, I would've bought a PS3 and a bunch of PS3 games ages ago.
ReplyDeleteAs it stands, though, a good chunk of my yearly gaming budget is blown on retro games.
Should that change later this year or next year, or should I decide to pass on the Wii U, for instance, maybe I'll pick up a cheap PS3 and some games.
We'll see!
Yesssss the art style on this is what draws me in. Hopefully it's not a case of style over substance!
ReplyDeleteSadly, it sounds like it may be a case of style over substance. Just read a few impressions of this game over on NeoGAF yesterday, and it sounds like it can be beaten in an hour or two :(
