Nintendo needs to release a Daigasso! Band Bros-branded 3DS LL (plus a few more musings on yesterday's Nintendo Direct broadcasts)

As soon as I realized that yesterday morning's trio of Nintendo Direct broadcasts (one each for Europe, Japan and North America) would focus entirely on previously announced 3DS and Wii U titles, I decided to take a pass on them.

At least that was the plan until someone suggested that the latest entry in the company's Daigasso! Band Bros. might show up in the Japanese one.

So, I watched it. And guess what? That random NeoGAF commenter was correct. And not only did the game pop up, but it was given a couple of minutes of airtime.

In many ways, it looks to very similar to the first two Daigasso! Band Bros. music games that were released for the Japanese DS back in 2004 and 2008, respectively. (The second also earned a European release, as Jam with the Band, in 2010.)

That's not to say this third one is going to be a total rehash of its predecessors. For example, there's a hilariously weird (and kind of creepy, admittedly) looking mode in this one that allows players to snap a photo of their faces and have them applied to in-game singers.

It also appears as though another of the game's modes features an entirely new style of gameplay, although I may be wrong about that.

And then there's the fact that the title, which will hit Japanese store shelves (and presumably that region's 3DS eShop) later this year, is going to be called Daigasso! Band Bros. P, with the "P" standing for both "Producer" and "Professional"--which implies we may be in store for additional gameplay surprises between now and whenever the finished product ships.

Regardless, I'm on board, and I'll be pre-ordering this sucker as soon as amiami.com allows me to do so.

That said, you know what would get me even more on board (if that were possible)? If Nintendo of Japan announced that a Daigasso! Band Bros.-branded 3DS LL system--especially a purple one, in honor of Barbara the Bat--would be sold alongside copies of the game.

As for the rest of the Japanese Nintendo Direct: about all I can say is that I think The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (boy, is that a mouthful--and not the good kind) looks marvelous, while The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds looks better than I thought it did at E3.

Oh, and I absolutely adore the look of the One Piece: Unlimited World R "Chopper Pink" 3DS LL system that will launch in Japan on Nov. 21 (just in time for my birthday).

If you missed any of yesterday's Nintendo Directs and would still like to see them, the European one can be seen here, the Japanese one can be seen here and the North American one can be seen here.

I downloaded the Animal Crossing Plaza last night. It supposedly contains all the animals from New Leaf. I didn't see Kody anywhere. SAD FACE.

Doesn't it change each time you enter, Justin? That's what I thought I read somewhere.

Also, there's an easy way to find out if Kody's in the game--just type his name into one of the AC wikis and see what it says.

This one, for instance -- http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/Kody-- says he IS in the game, so it sounds like you can turn that frown upside down :)

Do you like the AC Plaza, BTW? I think I'd be all over that if I actually owned a Wii U...

REALLY?! YAY! I just peed a little. AC Plaza is kind of neat. I don't know how I feel about it yet...

Yep, so now you just have to find him and get him to move into your town :)

Anyway, I look forward to hearing more about your experience with AC Plaza!

It's finally shaping up to be a good time for Wii U ownership. I've sunk plenty of time into mine with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Zombi U, but now we're in for a steady stream of games. I'm barely into Pikmin 3 so far, and now we have The Wonderful 101 and Wind Waker HD on the horizon.

When you factor in Animal Crossing, A Link Between Worlds and Pokemon XY, I'm not sure when I'll have time to play all of it. lol

I didn't end up watching any of these due to the time difference (they started at 12 am here), but I did catch up on the news after. I'm thinking I'll finally cave and get a Wii U during this holiday season! It's just a matter of whether I'm going to wait till the last minute to see of there's a price drop or not...

I'm thinking the "record you'r voice and turn it into a Vocaloid" thing is going to keep Daigasso! Band Bros. P from getting localized sadly. Plus it's probably up to Yamaha Corporation to whether or not the turn your voice into a Vocaloid program is made compatible with other languages.

Even though I'm not usually into pink things and I'm not the biggest One Piece fan (I find it OK but it has some serious pacing problems due to them having to have a new episode almost every week of the year and I only watch when its being aired on TV), I could see myself buying that 3DS LL/XL though I doubt they'll bring it here especially since Unlimited World Red has a slime chance of be released in the US (I hope I'm wrong, the game looks like it could be fun) and if they do it probably be a digital only release like the PS3 One Piece games.

Yeah, that last comment of yours certainly rings true with me, too, Terry. Which is why I'm holding off on buying a Wii U for now--I have waaaaaay too many 3DS games to play, and even more are coming out this fall. Ack!

That's great, Anne! I think you're going to get one before I do, which is pretty funny when you think about the comments we've made on Nichiest (and elsewhere) so far :)

I'm definitely getting one at some point, but it's possible it won't happen until next year--unless my parents get me one for Christmas.

I have a feeling there are going to be some massive deals on the system around Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, by the way--regardless of whether or not Nintendo officially drops the price.

Which Wii U games have pushed you over the edge, if you don't mind me asking?

Hello again, Sam! No need to worry about long comments here--I welcome them :)

Anyway, I have a feeling you're right about DBBP. Of course, I didn't think it was going to be released outside of Japan for a bunch of other reasons, too, so this is just one more on the pile, so to speak.

It doesn't matter, though, as I'd prefer to own the Japanese version anyway, as it's sure to include more music that appeals to me.

I also doubt Unlimited World Red--the game or the system--will be released here, by the way, although you never know about the game.

The system for sure will be a Japan-only thing, though, as Nintendo has been very stingy about releasing LE/SE 3DSes outside of Japan so far. Sigh.

Oh, I don't know... I'm pretty conflicted! There isn't a game in particular that's pushing me to pick it up, but I'm feeling the pressure of the "new console hype" everyone has for the PS4 and Xbox One, haha. But all the games I really want are coming out for the 3DS these days, so I might not pick up a Wii U just yet... I have a feeling it'll be the first next-gen system I grab, though! Unless they announce a mighty good Japanese game for the PS4 at Tokyo Game Show..

So maybe I jumped the gun on that one! I'm still thinking about whether not I should put it on my birthday/xmas wishlist ;)

Well, don't feel too bad, Anne--I'm in the same boat. I want to ask for one for Christmas, but even then I'm like, "What will I buy for it after that?" Yes, I want Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101, for instance, but do I want them more than, say, Bravely Default or Pokemon X/Y, etc? Nope. So, we'll see. I'm surely going to get one at some point, but *when* is still very much up in the air for me.
