You want to know why I've long been fascinated by Square Enix's vaunted Dragon Quest series?
Take in the illustration below, which was made by artist Zac Gorman for an iam8bit gallery exhibition that opens this Friday in Los Angeles.
Seriously, how could you not fall head over heels in love with such a charming cast of characters?
For those of you who are up for a bit more of Gorman's brilliance, check out this Donkey Kong-inspired t-shirt design.
No joke: if I hadn't just bought two game-related tees, I'd pick up one of the above faster than you can say, "It's-a me, Jumpman!"

Hopefully Square-Enix or Nintendo will make an announcement about an international release for Dragon Quest X Online and/or Dragon Quest VII 3D at E3.
Love it! I've never been a huge fan of the DQ designs (I'm sorry!), but Zac Gorman makes them look really appealing!
I hope so, too, Sam, as I want both games. C'mon, Nintendo! (I'm singling out Nintendo because you know SE ain't going to bring them over--at least not on their own.)
Really? I think the character and enemy designs in the DQ series are the best things about the games. Anyway, I certainly agree with you about Zac's ability to make them (even more) appealing!
WHAT DID YOU SAY, Anne?
Hah! Okay, I shouldn't have said designs, what I meant was the art style. I love the designs! But I'm really not a fan of the way Toriyama draws them
YES! This is beautiful and amazing.
It's OK either way, Anne. You're allowed to not like them!
Agreed on both counts, Justin :)
anne's a poopy head.
Wow, she really hurt you with that comment, eh? ;)
