Aino's (and Bryan's) Adventures in Animachi, Week Two

So, I've been playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf for about a week and a half now. How much have I been playing it? I'm going to plead the Fifth on that one. Let's just say I've played it a lot.

What happened during all of that playtime? I thought you'd never ask! Here's a not-so-brief glimpse at the goings on in my New Leaf town, Animachi, over the last week or so.

As you can see in the screenshot below, the week started with a ceremony to celebrate the completion of my town's "vital" campsite project.

And, yes, I punished all of the villagers who failed to show up for this momentous occasion.

One villager who got a pass for not being there: Ankha, who was moving into her new home at the time.

Although I wasn't sure about Ankha at first, I warmed up to her after checking out her new home's decor.

Shortly after the above-mentioned festivities, Animachi experienced its first Bug-Off event. Mayor Aino took part despite the fact that Nat, the master of ceremonies, proved to be more than a bit creepy.

Aino endured the creepiness, though, and ended up winning the whole she-bang.

Oh, and that empty spot on the podium? That's where I would have been standing I hadn't been off fishing or stalking beetles or picking my ears while I gazed lovingly at the "Pikmin Garden" I won via a fortune cookie the other day.

Aino ain't jealous of my "Pikmin Garden," though, because she nabbed herself some sweet "Bug Set" furniture during Nat's competition.

What could top the Bug-Off in Aino's and my minds? Our first trip to the island. Duh! Aino got to go first, of course.

Not only that, but she made the most of her maiden voyage by catching a whale shark.

I followed that up by snatching a regular shark, though, so Aino only had bragging rights for so long.

Yet another first that occurred in the last week: Aino and Bryan visited a bunch of faraway towns. The three shots below are of Aino's trip to Lizzi's bustling burgh.

Aino and Lizzi also took a nighttime jaunt to the latter's island.

A few days later, I visited the New Leaf villages maintained by blogging and Twitter pals Daphny, Matt, Pete and Terry.

I believe the following was taken while in Matt's town, but I honestly can't remember. (Sorry, guys!)

This one, though, definitely was snapped while fishing with Terry, proprietor of The Dunwich Hoarder tumblog.

Speaking of fishing: it has become my New Leaf obsession. Of course, it's easy to become obsessed with fishing when you catch monsters like the following (during a thunderstorm, no less):

Aino, on the other hand, seems more interested in catching bugs. Beetles are her passion, but she likes butterflies quite a bit, too.

That said, oak silk moths SCARE HER TO DEATH.

Also scary: Pascal popping out of nowhere after you grab a scallop from the bottom of the sea. At least he gave Aino a shiny silver cannon for her troubles.

Less scary: the straightforwardly named Bluebear, who broke in Animachi's campsite early in the week.

After a brief stare-down, Bluebear let down her guard and chatted up both Aino and Bryan.

She must've enjoyed the conversation, because shortly thereafter she announced she was moving to Animachi.

As cute as she is, I'll likely have to avoid her when I'm feeling cranky. Otherwise I may wind up smacking her overly peppy face with a shovel.

The screens above and below are sort of self-explanatory, don't you think? Aino received three badges from Phineas the sea lion, by the way, while Bryan got just two. (Cue sound of the world's smallest violin.)

Here, Saharah is following Aino to her humdrum home.

How'd it look after the lash-y camel had her way with it? Check out the next screencap to find out.

Although most folks would shudder in horror at the sight of Saharah's handiwork, Aino didn't mind it at all.

Finally, a few shots from another of the many ceremonies that were held in Animachi last week. I decided to share this one because both Snake and Chevre look to be giving themselves hernias while pulling the strings of their party poppers.

Afterwards, I took a moment to enjoy the rose-filled scenery.

Meanwhile, Aino planed a veritable forest during her spare time. In a few days, these trees will supply all kinds of fruit (apples, cherries, durians, lemons, lychees, mangoes, oranges, pears and persimmons) to the huddled masses of Animachi.
