Get your iPads, iPhones and iPods ready, guys and gals: THE 'DENPA' MEN soundtrack is now available on iTunes

Any of you who follow me on Twitter likely already know that I'm enjoying the ever-loving hell out of Genius Sonority's THE "DENPA" MEN: They Came By Wave.

I'll be sharing some in-depth impressions of this 3DS eShop RPG in a post that will be published tomorrow morning, but in the meantime I thought some of you might like to know that the game's wonderfully jaunty soundtrack is now available via iTunes. ($9.99 for the whole she-bang--a whopping 32 tracks--or $.99 per song.)

All of the songs that appear on THE "DENPA" MEN's soundtrack were brought to life by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Basiscape, by the way. A sampling of Sakimoto's past efforts, in case some of you aren't up to snuff when it comes to this Kagoshima-born composer and arranger: Chip Chan Kick!Final Fantasy Tactics, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen, Radiant Silvergun and Vagrant Story.

Full disclosure: I likely won't be buying THE "DENPA" MEN soundtrack myself, but that's not because I think it's a stinker. Rather, I'm just not sure I'll spend much time listening to it--especially since I've already heard most of the songs over and over again while playing the game itself.

I hate Nintendo for not announcing a release-date for Europe òó
If Nintendo wont release this game here I have to convert to Sega or something...
I hope this hurts Nintendo!!!
Pls bring this game to Europe, I'm so desperate ;_______;
I don't know anything about the soundtrack so far. °<°

Just listened to some of the songs.
Those are some lovely melodies!!!
I especially like "Denpa Island" and "DenpaNigen's house"!! :D
What do you think Bryan?
What's your favourite song so far?

Melody: Well, don't hate on Nintendo too much. This game is being published by its maker, Genius Sonority, I believe, and not Nintendo.

That said, Nintendo is a part-owner in Genius Sonority, so I'm guessing they have at least some say in its release.

Anyway, don't despair -- I really have to imagine this game will be released in your region at some point. Hopefully soon!

Yeah, there definitely are some nice melodies in this game's soundtrack, Melody.

I, too, like the main themes, by the way. I also really like the more subdued tracks, like 'Tower of the Demon King' and 'Oasis of the Fairy.'

I'm loving this game so far, Bryan! I played through the demo and LOVED it, so I spent $10 I didn't have to get the full game. So great so far! I'm getting my ass reamed on the forest island, but so far it's still way fun!

Ah, that's GREAT to hear, Justin! I wasn't sure if you'd pop for this one or not. Have you gone out in search of new Denpa men yet? As in searched for them while walking around or, better yet, driving around? If not, do it soon! It's amazing how many you can find while away from home, etc.

Oh, and just wait until you can scan QR codes (can't remember if it's after the forest island or one after that). I'm going to share a bunch of my QR codes in a few days, and then you can steal them :) And hopefully you and others will share some of YOUR QR codes when you're able. I have to say, I really love this aspect of the game.

Anyway, can't wait to hear more of what you think of the game after you've played it for a while longer!

Whoooooops! Genius Sonority huh?
Sorry Nintendo! :(
Genius Sonority are the bad guys (this time).
These lazy ppl really have to move their asses òó
If they deside to ignore Europe I'll be so mad!
And I'm sure they don't want that to happen. ^^
Thanks for telling me who are the criminals in this case Bryan xD
You and your blog are AWESOME! :D

Ohh... iTunes removed the button to play a demo of the songs :(
I wanted to hear them again ;_____;

Yep, Genius Sonority. BTW, I just started following them on Twitter, and lots of people are asking them about a Euro release for this game. Based on their responses, I would guess they're planning to release it there, but who knows when it'll happen?

Also, thanks for the kind words about the blog. I really appreciate them :)

Bryan Ochalla said...

Oh, and as for iTunes: Is that true? If so, that would be strange...

Bryan Ochalla said...

Melody: The buttons are still there on my end. Maybe it's the browser you're using or something like that?

I bet it's awesome but it still won't make me buy an Apple product :P

Bryan Ochalla said...

Fair enough, Simon! Of course, you don't have to own an Apple product in order to use iTunes. Not that I'd expect you to buy a soundtrack for a game you've yet to play!

Melody (Lizzi) said...

Hi Bryan! I tried to play the soundtrack on different pc's and with different browsers...
The buttons are gone when I check.
Strange...

I had no idea QR codes were a part of it! I'm so in! I've only done it in my low light living room. Does the color of your surroundings affect who shows up?

Bryan Ochalla said...

Huh. When I go to the page that I linked to in this post, it appears as though the buttons are gone, but when I put my mouse cursor over the number of each track a "play" button pops up. Sorry if that's not the case for you, though :(

Hello again, Justin! Yes, QR codes are in! Basically, after you beat the second or third dungeon, you're able to create and scan QR codes. So, you can make QR codes of your Denpa men (actually, you may be able to do this already) or scan QR codes others have created (which allows you to add additional, specific Denpa men to your Denpa Men House). Like I said earlier, I'll be sharing a bunch of QR codes in a post tomorrow, so be on the lookout for it -- and share your own QR codes in the comments section when you're able!

As for scanning your surroundings for Denpa men: As far as I'm aware, the color of your surroundings has nothing to do with which ones show up. The only thing that matters, it seems, is the presence of wifi signals. Each wifi signal will prompt specific Denpa men to show up on your scanner, so you have to find new wifi signals in order to find additional new Denpa men. Thankfully, you don't have to actually log on to those wifi signals, you just have to be in range of them. Does that make sense?
