The folks at Sony recently prepped a special TV commercial to celebrate the fact that Japanese sales of their crazy-survival-action-game-starring-a-bunch-of-animals, Tokyo Jungle, have topped the 200,000 mark.
Will the game move that many copies after it lands on our shores? It wouldn't surprise me in the least given the amount of interest it's garnered since it was announced in 2010.
What would surprise me: Sony's North American arm promoting the localized release of Tokyo Jungle with an ad like the one below. Or promoting it at all.
That's not a jab at Sony, by the way. I just see this as being a game the company tries to sell via word of mouth.
Regardless, I hope we hear more about the Western release of Tokyo Jungle soon, as all we know at the moment is that it's on its way (but when?) and that it'll likely be released digitally.

Love it. I will be buying this game when it comes out just so I can play as a hippo.
Ha! I like that the animal you want to play as is the hippo, Justin. Why is that, BTW? I'm not sure which one I want to play as -- well, other than the Pomeranian, of course. Actually, in one video I saw someone playing as a baby chick. Now THAT must be interesting!

As for being able to play as a baby chick (or some kind of baby bird) in this game: I know, right? I can't imagine it's easy to survive long in that state...

I have to say, I can't wait until we here news about when this'll be released, too! I was seriously going to just buy it from the Japanese PSN, but now that I now they're localizing it I really want to support it. But oh, the wait is killing me...
Oh, I have to add, my host mother's parents have a pom named Pi-chan... It is the #1 meanest dog I've ever met. Bad impression of pomeranians! Though I'm sure they're not all like that...
Anne: Yeah, you're probably right. I wonder if we'll even get any print ads for this game, or if it'll only be marketed electronically? I'm guessing the latter, personally.
Oh, and as for your comment about Pomeranians: Maybe that's why they're included as a playable character here? You know, because they look so cute and cuddly, but really they're terrifying! I guess we'll see :)
