And of course I'm talking about Journey the highly-acclaimed PSN game, not Journey the award-winning band.
Sadly, I can't play thatgamecompany's Journey--as I'm sure many of you are aware, I don't yet own a PS3--so I have to scratch my itch for the game by reading articles about it and staring at art inspired by it.
Case in point: The wonderfully minimalist illustration below (and here) that was created by Cory Schmitz.
This illustration was made for a well-worth-reading article, written by Kevin Nguyen, for The Bygone Bureau, by the way. Check it out in all of its originally-intended glory here (and check out Nguyen's article, too, while you're at it).
To see more of Schmitz' work, pay a visit to his Flickr photostream or his online portfolio.
Before you click on the links above, though, please tell me this: Have any of you played Journey? If so, what do you think of it?

I have, and it was marvelous. Short, beautiful, and poignant. That article you linked to was brilliant--exactly what I wanted to say about it, really. Except, I figured out I was with more than one person the whole way, since I lingered long enough to get a second companion in one of the first areas after the first had gone on ahead. You can identify them by the tiny symbols that show up when they bing or bong.
Still...totally worth the $14.99.
Oh, I thought you might have bought this one, Justin! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I certainly love the premise of it, and the looks of it, too. Guess I'll have to buy it shortly after I pick up a PS3 -- whenever that is :P
What a beautiful illustration! It really captures the feel of the game.
Speaking of which, I did play it... and I loved it! I was a bit skeptical at first when I heard it was only 2 hours long, but playing online with a companion(s) really made it memorable. Shameless plug, but I think I summed up my thoughts pretty well in my VGW review, if you're interested in reading more about it: http://videogamewriters.com/review/review-journey
You really need a PS3 one of these days! ;)
Oh, I completely forgot that you have a PS3, Anne. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time with this game, BTW. And as for your VGW review: I'll go read it now. Thanks for sharing a link to it :)
I will get a PS3 one of these days, BTW. I just don't have the time or interest for it now, as I'm still playing and enjoying and supporting my 3DS, DS, PSP and Wii.
I might try it out one day :)
I have heard many good things about this game.
You and me both, Igor! It certainly sounds like a unique experience, regardless. I really love the graphic style myself :)
