Hey, Nintendo of America: Where's my free copy of 3D Classics Kid Icarus?

The question in the header above popped into my head while reading these hands-on impressions of the Japanese version of 3D Classics: Kid Icarus over the weekend.

I know I probably sounded less than excited when I wrote about this 3D-enabled update of one of my all-time favorite Famicom and NES games early last month (in this post), but I have enough interest in it to want to give it a try, especially if it's free.

For some strange reason, though, Nintendo has yet to extend to North American 3DS owners the same offer--folks who register at least two of about 13 3DS games with Club Nintendo by a certain date receive a free copy of 3D Classics: Kid Icarus as a reward--it recently extended to Japanese and European 3DS owners.

Here's hoping the company's North American branch throws us a bone--or maybe I should say eggplant?--soon.

Hm. I better get registering games...just in case.

No need to rush it, Justin! In fact, it may be a good idea to wait. Some folks in Europe were burned for registered titles too early, as the registration period ran from something like Nov. 1 through Jan. 15 -- so folks who registered, say, Super Mario 3D Land before Nov. 1 weren't able to count it. Yeah, that sucks, doesn't it?

Anyway, for some reason I have a feeling that NOA is waiting to do this closer to the release of Kid Icarus Uprising -- so, maybe, February-March? Ugh.

I'm super psyched for this as well!! I hope NOA releases some info soon! Glad to see another Kid Icarus fan out there! It gets a lot of hate but it's one of my favorite series. =] And I think you're right about them waiting till closer to Uprising's launch.

Ah, another Kid Icarus fan! I may faint. Really, no one seems to like this game, which is sad if you ask me. I mean, I know it's difficult, but so are lots of other 8-bit games! Anyway, here's hoping we find out more about the 3D Classics version soon...

Yeah, I'm not sure of the hate either... =[ Like you said almost all NES games were really difficult and (maybe its just because I've played it so much but...) I don't really think it's that super difficult after you level up your health meter a bit.

I hope they port the Game Boy Kid Icarus of Myths & Monsters to the 3DS eShop. It's one of my favorite Game Boy titles and I think it's much easier compared to the NES one.

Ah, Kaze, you hit the nail on the head RE: Kid Icarus' difficulty: It starts off pretty darn difficult, but after you've leveled up a bit it's actually not bad at all. I have a feeling that a lot of people who hate the game just give up on it too early.

You know what? I've barely played Of Myths and Monsters. Sad, I know. Sounds like you like it, though? Maybe I'll have to track it down -- or, like you, wait for it to be released on the eShop.

Speaking of the 3DS, what's your friend code, if you don't mind me asking? No worries if you have enough 3DS friends -- just thought I'd ask :)

You should definitely pick it up if you have the chance! :D Now I kind of want to pop it in my super game boy and play it a bit lol

Oh course! I was actually just about to ask if it was cool to add you! ^^ Mine is: 2320-6514-4549

Ah, the Super Game Boy! I really have to get one of those at some point. Or a Game Boy Player. Or both.

I just added you to my 3DS friends list, by the way. Thanks for sharing your code!
