Oh, Nintendo of America. You are a conundrum, aren't you?
After suggesting again and again over the last few months that you had no plans to bring the much-ballyhooed Xenoblade Chronicles to the States, you rather non-chalantly send out a press release this morning revealing that the Monolith Soft-developed RPG will hit store shelves across the good ol' US of A this coming April.
Strangely, said press release also revealed that this open-world RPG will be sold, for $49.99, exclusively through GameStop stores and Nintendo's website. (Although GameStop's already taking pre-orders for the title, Nintendo won't be taking them until Dec. 19.)
So, how many of you are planning, as I am, to jump on the Xenoblade Chronicles bandwagon as soon as it hits the streets?

Great! For some reason, I didn't even know you had a Wii, Famicom Freak. Of course, you have just about everything gaming-related, so why wouldn't you have a Wii? :P
I might need a demo of it first, but I'm interested. I wished they hadn't canned the U.S. release of Disaster Day of Crisis though
Hoo boy, Adam, you're asking a lot for a demo, I think. I mean, we are talking about Nintendo here :| Thankfully, the word of mouth is great, so I imagine that if you like open-world RPGs you'll probably like this one. At least, that's what I'm hoping...
As for Disaster: Day of Crisis: I wanted that one, too. And Another Code: R and Zangeki no REGINLEIV.
Birthday Present!!! I'm telling you...Nintendo is so headscratchingly ridiculous sometimes, I don't know what to do...and then I get my Platinum Reward in the mail this morning and I'm like a little fangirl all over again...and then there's this news and I'm like, "WTF?"
It must be love that keeps me with such an unstable mistress...
I think "headscratchingly ridiculous" is the perfect way to describe Nintendo of America, Justin. Good one!
So, you got your pin set this morning? I'm jealous! I was close to being platinum this year, but didn't quite make it. Oh, well, next year!
Anyway, I don't know about you, but I'm going to be buying a load of Nintendo-made games late this year and early next: Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Luigi's Mansion 2, Rhythm Heaven Fever and Xenoblade Chronicles.
Wallet am cry :(
Oh, and Skyward Sword, too! Er, maybe :)
BTW, the person who initially leaked the info about Xenoblade Chronicles coming to North America in April also said that Rhythm Heaven Fever will be released on March 2 or 3. Drat, I was hoping it would be early February...
Indeed. Wallet AM cry. Mine, too.
And it's only going to get worse after Nintendo starts revealing 2012 release dates for its 3DS games -- like Luigi's Mansion 2 (expected to be early 2012), Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, etc.
Also: Square's 3DS games! I wonder which ones will make the trip from Japan to NA? I'm really hoping Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Bravely Default make it over at least...
Yup. I hope they spread them around...maybe keep one as a summer release. I hate it when they release 3 awesome games in a month and then nothing for six months...
Me, too, depending on which game we're talking about. Holding Paper Mario 3DS until late summer/early fall would be fine with me, for instance.
I'm curious what they're going to do with Animal Crossing, BTW. Is that a game they'd release in spring/summer, or would they hold it until winter??
