Super Mario 3D Land will hit the streets in the Land of the Rising Sun in just a few weeks (on Nov. 3, to be exact). As such, Nintendo's Japanese arm is revving its promotional engines in the hopes of piquing the public's interest in their mustachioed plumber's first 3DS-based adventure.
I don't know if the following commercial will catch the attention of Japanese consumers, but it's certainly caught the attention of this consumer.
Here's a far more conventional commercial for Super Mario 3D Land, if that's what you're after.
Super Mario 3D Land will be released in North America on Nov. 13, by the way. (It'll follow suit throughout Europe on Nov. 18 and in Australia on Nov. 24.) Pre-order it here.

Super Mario Land 3D Looks so so awesome.
I like the fist japanese ad the best
Hey there, Adam! Welcome, and thanks for the comment :)
Anyway, yes, I like the first ad a lot, too, even if it is a bit weird. I wonder if any similarly odd commercials will be created for North America? Probably not.
Speaking of which, has anyone seen a North American ad for Super Mario 3D Land??
OK, anyone who clicks on this post and looks at the comments from now on HAS TO watch this video, too, which shows off the game's Boomerang Suit:

OMG OMG OMG I'm already getting this game but Boomerang Mario?? AHHHH!!! Totally awesome!!! Ok Nintendo I forgive you for getting the Tanoki Suit wrong :p
Boomerang Mario is great, isn't he?? Hell, I even love this version of Tanooki Mario. I know he doesn't have the same ability to fly as his SMB3 predecessor, but I like him anyway -- mainly because this version looks sooooooo cute :)
I just reserved my copy of Skyward Sword...but I'm torn. I want this game SO BAD that I don't want to wait until Christmas...we'll see how long Zelda takes to finish.
I hear ya, Justin. Are you going to get Mario Kart 7, too, or have you sworn it off after Mario Kart Wii?
Actually, the kart customization and the addition of Lakitu as a playable character are dragging me back kicking and screaming. I'll ask for it for Christmas, probably.
Yay! I know I shouldn't care, but I want you to get the game so that when *I* get the game (and a 3DS, of course) we can possibly-maybe race each other!
BTW, I think Lakitu is an awesome addition as a playable character, too :)
Oh, I just had to chime in–Japanese people will most certainly give a second glance to this commercial, as it features a member of one of the most popular boy bands in the country, Arashi.
Actually the Arashi guys were doing promotions for Mario Kart in the past, so maybe they've got some kind of ongoing Mario-related contract with Nintendo?
Ah, I knew Arashi was involved in some way, but I didn't know who it/they were until now. Thanks for educating me!
It'll be interesting to see how Japanese gamers view this title, IMO, given their rather ho-hum reaction to Galaxy and Galaxy 2. North American gamers, on the other hand, are sure to eat it up.
