What is "it," you ask? Why, it's the red Twin Famicom I bought myself for my birthday!
Here it is, in all its cherry-red glory.
Although it's not as pristine as I was hoping it would be (there are a few dings and scratches here and there), it seems to be in good working order--and that's all that really matters, isn't it?
I'll take a few more Glamour Shots-esque photos of it after my latest game purchases arrive.

Nice!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Donkey Kong is a good game to photograph it with.
At last you can play these games in true style!
I still have yet to find an AC cable for my Twin, seeing yours hooked up and ready to go provides me with fresh impetus to go out and get one:)
Thanks, Sean! I was going to wait until my copy of Super Mario Bros. arrived, but I just couldn't do it (wait).
ReplyDeleteSo, I'll probably take a similar photo once SMB arrives :)
And, yes, now I can play my Famicom games in style. Yay! I think I'm going to have to make a little "Famicom den" somewhere in our house -- maybe our rarely used guest bedroom/office?
I can't believe you don't have an AC cable for your Twin. Of course, you have about 50 Famicoms, so I guess it isn't hurting you much :) (I kid!)
Omg Whats the tv do u use? its beautiful
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, let me go look... The brand is "TruTech," Nuts. I'm not sure that's going to help you, though -- I've never heard of it before now! We bought it at Target 3-4 years ago. I think it was pretty cheap at the time, esp. since it included a DVD player.
ReplyDeleteWow. I just...love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Justin :) If I were Oprah (or the gay-blogging equivalent), I'd buy one for everyone. "You get a Twin Famicom! You get a Twin Famicom! EVERYBODY GETS A TWIN FAMICOM!!!"
ReplyDeletenice pick up! the red twin famicom is by far the sexiest of all twin famicoms.
ReplyDeleteThanks, VGAR! It's definitely a great looking system. Can't wait to play it this weekend :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
ReplyDeleteSorry, this is a bit off topic, but I have to ask about the picture of the guy sitting on the bench with a joystick in hand that is on the banner of your blog. Did you draw that?
The reason I ask is that I was in a game shop here in Fukuoka today (Omocha Souko where I got my Twin Famicoms - hey, I guess it kind of does relate to this post) and I saw the exact same picture on a sign.
I thought "Hey, what is Bryan doing here? that is bizarre." Kind of a strange coincidence, but I wasn't sure. I took a picture, I'll put it up on my blog sometime.
Hey there, Sean!
ReplyDeleteOh, no, I definitely didn't draw the image of the guy in my banner. The short story is that the guy is Takakazu Abe, the meme-inspiring star of Junichi Yamakawa's bara manga, Kuso Miso Technique. If you want to know more about this NSFW manga, go here -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuso_Miso_Technique.
You're probably wondering why I decided to include him in my banner (which was made by my sister-in-law). Well, I just find the whole story surrounding the manga (and its subsequent fame) hilarious. Plus, I liked that my sister-in-law could change it up a bit by adding a controller to Abe's hand. (In the original image, he's pulling down his shirt's zipper).
Ah, interesting! So it was Takakazu Abe I saw at the shop!:) Its a nice image, looks good at the top of the page!
ReplyDeleteYep, it was Takakazu Abe. Not sure if you looked at the Wiki link, but the manga was/is definitely a bit, er, "adult" -- if not downright gross. Of course, that's why he's become a bit of an Internet meme -- and why you found a t-shirt bearing his image.
