I may have to borrow (steal) this idea next year

One of my favorite gaming bloggers, Sean over at Famicomblog, recently wrote a post titled "Merry F'ing Christmas"--with the "F" standing not for everyone's favorite four-letter word but for "Famicom."

The focus of Sean's holiday-themed post: His Famicom-decorated Christmas tree (below).

The inclusion of Konami's Antarctic Adventure seems especially appropriate, don't you think?

Go here to see more of Sean's Christmas-y craziness.

  1. Heck yes. And what a great game, too!

  2. I've never played this game, Justin. Is it fun? What do you like about it? I think I'll have to check it out this weekend...

  3. I had a PC port of a game with the same name, so I assume they're the same...but maybe not? It's a great puzzle platformer, if it is the same game.

  4. Actually, I don't think it is the same game! The game I just played is kind of a racing game...

  5. Cheers, Bryan! You post so fast that I didn't scroll down far enough to catch this when I visited earlier:)

Antarctic Adventure is a great game. Very very very simple. You just control a penguin as he races across Antarctica, jumping over holes in the ice and dodging seals to the tune of "Skater's Waltz". Its kind of addictive.

  6. Yeah, sorry about that, Sean. It seems to go in spurts with me -- I'll post three times a day for a few days and then post once a day for the next week. Also, my posts are a LOT shorter than yours!

Thanks for the description of Antarctic Adventure. I'm definitely looking forward to giving it some attention. I have a feeling I'll buy it eventually simply because the box/cart art is so cute :)

  8. Oh, that's great -- thanks for sharing, Starfighter!

    Also, I'd love a Segatree, too :)

  9. Hey Starfighter: You wouldn't happen to know who posted this -- or where I can it on pcenginefx, do you? I'd like to mention it here, but I want to credit the photographer, etc., if at all possible.

  10. Yup, definitely get Antarctic Adventure, its good both for the great cover and the game itself. It was actually my wife's favorite game when she was a kid and I spent the first 6 months or so of my Famicom collecting days trying to track a copy of it down in Fukuoka's game shops. Finally finding it was one of my biggest shopping thrills!

That Doraemon tree is pretty cute too!

  11. OK, I'll pick it up at some point (sooner rather than later). It's nice to know it was your wife's favorite game when she was a kid :)

No problem! It's henrycsc that have decorated and taken the picture - the thread is here: http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=8979.0 (it's the third post from the top).
