According to the folks at gonintendo.com, the following art will grace the cover of Capcom's Okamiden when it's released stateside this coming spring:
For comparison's sake, here's the DS game's Japanese cover:
Although I don't hate the North American art, I don't exactly like it either. Of course, I'd buy the game even if its cover featured nothing but a steaming pile of Chibiterasu poo.

OKAMIDEN! I loved Okami on the Wii and I can't wait for the DS sequel, although I do hope Capcom releases another sequel on a non-handheld platform in the future.
Hmmm the North American art is more action-y to appeal to American kids but the Japanese cover-art is more beautiful, serene and in-touch with nature, reflecting the heart of a true warrior. Otherwise it's up to you :)
Yeah, I'd love another console Okami myself. Who knows, maybe this one will sell enough that Capcom will give it a go?
I also agree with you about the Japanese cover art being more beautiful and serene. Like I said in my post, the NA art isn't bad, but it's not as nice as the Japanese art, IMO.
Shame on me, I still have not played in the first part of the PS2
Yes, shame on you! :) Now get out there and buy (and play) the PS2 original before the DS follow-up comes out...
Or, of you have a Wii, you can buy that version, which is pretty awesome with the Wiimote, actually.
Anywho...I love the Japanese box art. It's that style of Japanese art that I love. *sigh* This will be one of those games I want to get but don't buy until years after it comes out, I'll bet.
Duh! I can't believe I forgot the Wii version of Okami...
Also, I'm probably in the same boat as you, Justin. Although I really want this game, I probably won't buy it for some time.
The japanese cover looks so great!!!
I love the pastel watercolour-style and there are sakura-blossoms!
A cover with cherry-blossoms always looks great ^^
Yeah, I much prefer the Japanese box art, too, Melody. BTW, I can't believe I've yet to buy this game!
