Well, it's that time of year again--the time of year when I waste way too much time pondering how I'm going to spend the birthday and Christmas money I receive from my parents.
So, what am I hoping to buy with this presumed windfall? Here are the top three possibilities:
1. A slew of PC Engine platformers--Specifically: Gekisha Boy, Mizubaku Daibouken, Parasol Stars and Rainbow Islands. How much can four old PC Engine games cost, you ask? Quite a bit if you're anal retentive (like yours truly) and you only buy games that come with boxes and instruction manuals.
2. A red Twin Famicom (right)--My desire for Sharp's toaster-esque console--its eject button causes cartridges to pop out of the system like toast pops out of the aforementioned appliance--seems to bloom and fade like the blossoms of a cherry tree. Apparently it's blooming again, as I can't stop thinking about the damn thing.
3. A PS3--Surprise, surprise: I'm actually open to buying something au currant. Of course, the problem with this choice is that it's the most costly. That said, it sure would be nice to (finally) be able to play games like 3D Dot Game Heroes, Demon's Souls, Katamari Forever, LittleBigPlanet and Valkyria Chronicles.
I honestly have no idea which of the above options I'll blow my money on at the end of the year, but you can bet your butt I'll post all the gory details here.

Twin Famicom! PS3 will wait :3
You know, I'm *so* happy you voted for the Twin Famicom, Nuts) -- I thought for sure everyone would suggest I buy the PS3.
You're right about the PS3, of course -- esp. since it's bound to drop in price (again) at some point...
Hey, hope you get that Red Twin Famicom!!!
That ad is a pretty cool find too, I didn't know they originally came bundled with Mario Brothers.
Thanks, Sean! I'm certainly a bit obsessed with the Twin Famicom at the moment, so who knows -- maybe that's what I'll end up buying :)
Hm. I love the game cartridges...very Wario Ware DIY. I had no idea they were based on something REAL. Get an Xbox.
Yep, the carts in WarioWare DIY were based on the earliest Famicom cart designs. Cool, eh?
Oh, and I *know* you aren't seriously telling me to get an Xbox. That said, I *would* get one if I were rich -- just so I could play Pac-Man CE and a few other downloadable games -- but since I'm far from rich that won't be happening anytime soon.
Nope, it's going to be one of these three options or nothing at all!
PS3! Someone have to say that option too, so I'll be the one. :) I hooked my PS3 up with the "PS3 Media Server" through my computer and now use my PS3 daily for just about everything media-related. But it's a valid point that it can wait, and will drop further in price.
Hey there, Starfighter! Yeah, I'd like to hold off on the PS3 until it's at least $250, though of course $199 would be even better. I can't imagine it'll drop that low for some time, though. Hopefully it'll drop to $250 after the holidays.
My vote goes for the Twin Famicom, because it kicks complete and total ass.
Hey there videogamesarerad.com! (I love your site, BTW -- though I guess you know that if you saw my post from a few days ago.) I'm definitely leaning toward the red Twin Famicom at the moment, though I'll probably try to pick up a few PC Engine games, too. The PS3 can wait!
